| Proton100k Space Hardened Computer Design Win on MISTI SAN DIEGO, CA –November 10, 2004 – Space Micro Inc. has been selected by PRT, Fallbrook, CA as a subcontractor for their Proton100k™ radiation hardened space computer. The Proton100k will be the instrument controller for investigation of radiation-induced failures in space, named Microelectronics Shielding Test Instrument (MISTI). The MISTI program is funded by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This program will culminate in an electronics experiment that will monitor the radiation degradation and effects of microelectronics in space, controlled and monitored by the Proton100k computer. Both the experiment electronics and the Proton100k computer must be hardened to both the total ionizing dose and the single event effects in space orbits. The goal is duplicate the total dose radiation anomalies seen in a previous microelectronics experiment, the Naval Research Lab’s Microelectronics and Photonics Testbed (MPTB) satellite launched in 1997. The Proton100k™ Single Board Computer (SBC) serves as the core processor to monitor and report on the ability of various shielding configurations for FPGAs”, noted David Czajkowski, COO of Space Micro. “We are very pleased to have been selected by PRT to design and manufacture this significant space IC shielding experiment, said David J. Strobel, President of Space Micro. “We believe this program is an important step in gaining an in depth understanding of interaction of space radiation with materials and further demonstrates the capabilities of our Proton100k computer.” MISTI will incorporate Space Micro’s radiation hardened design technologies, including Time-Triple Modular Redundancy™ (TTMR™) and Hardened Core, which mitigate radiation induced single event upset (SEU) errors in space. About PRT PRT is a small research and development company in Fallbrook, CA, which specializes in space radiation effects and modeling. PRT is led by Mr. Jim Pickel with over 30 years of experience in this field. About Space Micro Inc.
