| Space Micro Awarded Space Radiation Dosimeter R&D Contract Technology uses common commercial electronics to aid in radiation detection. SAN DIEGO, CA – September 28, 2006 – Space Micro announced today that it has been awarded by NASA under STTR Proposals, a Phase II Contract for Miniature Active Space Radiation Dosimeter. While this novel device is useful for monitoring biological life sciences and manned space radiation dose levels, it can also monitor the higher radiation levels seen by space electronics systems. “Our approach to meeting NASA need for precision dosimeters in the man-rated dose regime is to leverage commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) microelectronics”, said David J. Strobel, President and CEO at Space Micro. The developed dosimeter directly supports NASA in the International Space Station or missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond by monitoring astronaut radiation doses in real time during long voyages. With Phase I completed in 2005, this validated the feasibility of using a common solid-state device to record total ionizing dose (TID). Space Micro is currently partnering with a major university in developing this product. James Winso, Manager of Radiation Detection, commented: “Space Micro will extend our Phase I R&D to develop a family of miniature, passive space radiation dosimeters. A single circuit board design will support both manned level and space electronic level dosimeter needs. This is enabled by the density and features of commercial high density silicon semiconductor devices coupled with innovative patented technologies.” About Space Micro Inc.
