Mr. David Ryan Added to Space Micro’s Board of Directors

Space Micro Inc. today announced the appointment of Mr. David Ryan to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Ryan is an Aerospace and Defense executive with over 37 years of experience in satellite and big data processing systems with industry leadership, management, and execution roles.
Mr. Ryan is recently retired from the space industry and now living in La Jolla, CA.
Before his retirement in 2014, Mr. Ryan was Sector Vice President and General Manager of the $1.3B Intelligence Systems Division of Northrop Grumman's Information Systems (NGIS) Sector. The division is a major supplier of specialized systems and services to the U.S. intelligence and defense communities. Previously, Mr. Ryan was Sector Vice President of Business Development for the $9B NGIS sector. In this role, he led the sector's business development team which dramatically increased the sector’s contract awards.
Earlier, Mr. Ryan was Sector Vice President and General Manager of the Civil Systems Division of Northrop Grumman’s Space Technology sector, responsible for executing on all the company’s civil space programs, including the James Webb Space Telescope. Leading to that position, he was Vice President and Program Director of the $10B National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System program, the country's next-generation space environmental remote sensing system and one of Northrop Grumman’s largest programs at that time.
Before joining Northrop Grumman in 2005, Mr. Ryan was President of Boeing Satellite Systems International, where he was responsible for leading one of the world's largest manufacturers of commercial and government satellites with sales of ~$2B/year.
Mr. Ryan is a recognized expert in the fields of airborne and space ISR systems, SIGINT, optical and multispectral sensor systems, space superiority, signals intelligence, geospatial intelligence, big data management, processing and analytics, weather information and collaborative analytic environments. He holds a BS and Masters in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in Houston, TX.
