San Diego, CA – May 19, 2018
Space Micro Inc. is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Vancouver-based Helios Wire Corp. to develop radio frequency (RF) technology for Helios Wire’s smallsat constellation, which will provide global connectivity for blockchain and Internet of Things services.
Space Micro will provide the S-Band RF payload for Helios, with initial flight models to be delivered in Q3 of 2018. The first Helios satellites are scheduled to launch in late summer, 2018.
“We are very pleased to be working with Space Micro on this crucial satellite component,” says Scott Larson, CEO and co-founder of Helios Wire. “This technology partnership is an important step in our mission to bring IoT and blockchain connectivity to millions of people across the globe. IoT is a burgeoning industrial revolution and we want to make sure that it’s a democratized one, not just for large businesses.”
“We are pleased to work with Helios Wire to jointly develop a low cost smallsat communications payload that is in the New Space/Space 2.0 business environment”, said Space Micro CEO David J. Strobel.
