NASA"s Jet Propulsion Lab Awards Contract To Space Micro Inc.
Developing reconfigurable microwave device technology.

SAN DIEGO, CA - April 16, 2007- To meet the need for a Reconfigurable Miniature Transponder for Space Applications, Space Micro Inc. was awarded a R&D contract by NASA and the California Institute of Technology"s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This award is based upon the Federal Government"s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program, which promotes the development of technologies (and introduction of these into the market) by small businesses.

"The technology being developed under the Reconfigurable Miniature Transponder program is quite advanced and has the potential for a large number of future applications, "said David Czajkowski, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technologist of Space Micro. Typically, the electronic circuit designs for radio and transponder applications must be unique for each and every field application resulting in high costs and lengthy development cycles." With Space Micro"s reconfigurable microwave technology, a more general-purpose device can be manufactured, and then configured by the end-user for each specific application. The result will be simplified designs, reduced costs, and a faster release date to our customers.

The Phase I program is scheduled to take place over a period of six months. Space Micro may then continue with another phase of the development efforts, which will allow the technology to be further developed and matured over the next 2 years.
