Space Micro Inc. delivers advanced Temperature Sensitive Paint.
Initial TSP application is in hypersonic wind tunnels.
SAN DIEGO, CA - October 27, 2008 - Space Micro's Advanced Materials Division announced today that it has delivered two lots of its HiRECTM Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP) coating to the Air Force for hypersonic wind tunnel applications. This is the culmination of over three years work, funded through SBIR Phase I and II awards.
Mr. Carl Edwards, Director of Space Micro's Advanced Materials Division, commented: "Our Temperature Sensitive Paint, called HiREC(tm), is a formulation that addresses the industry need for a high temperature long-life coating for thermal mapping test structures in wind tunnels. HiREC(tm), enables continuous remote temperature measurements over the range of 80-1200 degrees F over multiple runs."
"Our approach to meeting Air Force needs is to highly leverage commercial-off-the-shelf COTS technologies for applications in advanced materials and in space hardware", said David J.
