Space Micro Inc Appoints Mike Jacox as Optical Division Manager

(SAN DIEGO, CA – October 28, 2010) Space Micro Inc announces the addition of Michael Jacox as Division Manager of the Optical Division. Mr. Jacox brings over 25 years of experience leading advanced technology development programs for the Department of Defense (DoD) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and leading aerospace companies. Prior to joining Space Micro Inc. Mr. Jacox was the founder and President of StarVision Technologies Inc. which developed and demonstrated the StarCam satellite stellar gyro and VisNav precision relative navigation sensors. Before creating StarVision, Mr. Jacox served as Deputy Director of the Spacecraft Technology Center at Texas A&M University. Under his leadership, the Center successfully completed a demonstration of the StarNav I star-tracker on the STS-107 space shuttle flight.
During his tenure with the United States Air Force Research Labs, Mr. Jacox served as Program Manager for a $50M solar orbit transfer vehicle (SOTV) demonstration program. He also worked on NASA and DoD funded research programs with Lockheed Martin and other federal contractors.
Mr. Jacox holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgia Tech University, a Masters of Science in Nuclear Engineering from University of Idaho and a Masters in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
