Thermal Protection Coating: TPC™
TPC™ takes thermal protection to new heights. It utilizes a novel inorganic material to create a coating that shields against temperatures 1400°C, far above conventional, organic based coatings. It is easy to apply, easy to process, durable, and environmentally safe. TPC™ bonds to ceramics, metals, and even plastics, making it ideal for a wide range of aircraft and spacecraft applications.
TPC™ was developed from Space Micro’s proven Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP), which was originally developed for wind tunnel models. TPC™ is the next generation of this advanced coating technology.
TPC™ was named a finalist for CONNECT's Most Innovative Product Award.
For more information, refer to the TPC™ datasheet.
Temperature Sensitive Paint (TSP) - HiREC™
High Resolution Emissivity Coating (HiRECTM) for hypersonic wind tunnel use and other applications:
- Thermally & Mechanically stable
- Inorganic, Non-toxic
- User Friendly
- No degradation up to 750ºC
- Accurate thermal resolution
This Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has recognized this project as one of its “SBIR/STTR Innovation Stories”, a distinction that highlights programs that result in technologies with “clearly outstanding potential”.
Full details of this recognition can be seen in a PDF copy of this story or by going to SBIR/STTR Electronic Library (look for Topic # “AF04-294”).
BAQuS™ - Composite Bonding Inspection Techniques
Bonding Assurance Quality System (BAQuS™) to assure bonding quality of composites:
- Non-destructive evaluation (NDE)
- Assists in contaminant identification (i.e. silicones, fingerprints...)
- Portable and hand held
- Cover large areas quickly
- Supports decisions to manufacture, rework, or scrap expensive composites
For more information on BAQuS™, including how it can be used, watch the BAQuS™ video (opens in a seperate window with sound.)
This patent-pending technology uses full spectrum reflected light to “fingerprint” contaminants on composite surfaces and is sensitive enough to detect contaminants that may affect adhesion. The result is a useful technique with applications for commercial as well as military composites.
